PETA and the “Pet Shop Boys”

Do you know the musical group from UK, “The Pet Shop Boys?”  They have had many hits, sold over 50 million records, and have a new album coming out this year.  My favorite song from them is “Always on My Mind” and “West End Girls”  (yes, very 80′s.)

Well PETA (the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) have asked them to change their name…can you believe them?? They wanted to rename the musical duo “The Rescue Shelter Boys.”

Now I applaud anyone who wants to bring awareness to the ever increasing problems of inadequate Animal Shelters (abuse and overcrowdedness), mal-treatment of animals,  and puppy-mills, but PETA does not even like people having pets.  That’s right, our dogs and cats are being exploited for our enjoyment and fulfillment according to PETA.  Personally, I don’t believe in wearing fur, but the extreme measures taking by PETA are just over-the-top crazy. Throwing blood on people, saying that feeding your kid “meat” is child abuse, asking ice cream mavens Ben & Jerry to use breast milk instead of cow’s milk, and claiming that “meat” hurts your manhood is just a few of their crazy marketing schemes.

PETA to the UK duo,“By agreeing to change your name to the Rescue Shelter Boys, you would help raise awareness about the cruelty involved in the pet trade and encourage your millions of fans to consider giving a home to an abandoned or unwanted animal from an animal shelter.” Not surprisingly, the UK duo (who have a new album Yes fresh in the stores) declined the “bizarre” request.

The founder of Peta, Ingrid Newkirk, even has a bizarre will (I guess she will stop at nothing for “awareness”) and direction to what she wants done with her “remains” such as…”the ‘meat’ of my body, or a portion thereof, be used for a human barbecue…my feet be removed and umbrella stands or other ornamentation be made from them…That one of my eyes be removed, mounted, and delivered to the administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency…That one of my ears be removed, mounted, and sent to the Canadian Parliament”  and on and on.

Peta is just extreme!!!

Absolutely ridiculous. PETA has no right to ask such a thing. Once again, they over-step their boundaries and attempt to “shove” their agenda down our throats.

PETA MUST LEARN TO SIT & STAY!!!!
