What is a Network? A network is a social structure made up of a set of actors (such as individuals, teams, and/or organizations) and a simple or complex set of the syndetic ties between these actors. The network perspective may provide a clear way of understanding, uplifting, and/or enjoying topics and issues that are important to the individuals as a whole.

Twitters and Likes, a FaceBook Page geared with YOU in mind has launched in early 2012.  I wanted to give back to all of YOU via FB so I created a Page that would allow you to market yourselves via FaceBook AND Twitter.  I have sold “NYC-Miami-Vegas” earmarking the first time I have done so.  I’ve remained as manager of the Page as per my agreement.  This way, I can maintain my “reach” with that audience as well. I may build more and sell those too (Thanks for giving me the confidence to do so!)

“H. Luiz Presents…Twitter” has grown from 6,000+ Followers to nearly 22,000 Followers in the last 6 months.  Again, all thanks go to you for helping make that possible.

Our online reach has also helped find missing children, bring awareness to anti-bullying campaigns, assisted a Chef or 2 in keeping their restaurants open, advocated for Food Network’s NO KID HUNGRY Campaign (with Share Our Strength), supported GLBT Youth to say “IT GETS BETTER” and even helped an Organic Farm obtain much needed equipment. I am truly grateful for it all and count my blessings that I have YOU to help make these extra-ordinary events happen. I am TRULY proud!

Also in 2012, I’ve decided to tackle NY Real Estate.  I know from experience that the two things I hear people talk about most in New York is Food and Real Estate. Getting my NYS Real Estate License was a no-brainer, a given, inevitable, so why not start with the BEST Real Estate Firm – Douglas Elliman. Working with amazing managers such as Jeff, John, Chris, and Amy has enriched this new experience. Amy Kane has helped me think outside the RE Box and I look forward to her continuing guidance into the next year as I make my “home” in TriBeCa.

We’re living in a Great Country among many that taught us that CONSUMERISM was “the Dream” and an abundance of money (and spending it) would make us happy…BUT, we’re finally catching on that that isn’t so.

I remember Bill Cosby telling me (well, he was telling everyone with “Himself” – a comedy routine he filmed in the mid-80′s that “…money intensifies you (your personality). So with that logic in mind, if you are a generous person and you WIN the lottery, then you become MORE generous…But what if you are an a-hole?” Then you’re just an a-hole with some money.

We have been able to diagnose and measure depression (sadness) in order to treat it for decades. Now, we’re starting to research, diagnose, and measure happiness in a new field of psychology called Positive Psychology. Maybe, that’s where our focus should have been all along to “minimize” sadness and depression.

What I have learned over the years in my studies, is that 50% of our happiness is genetic, our environment (situation) is responsible for just 10%, leaving a whopping 40% to things we can engage in to make us happy/happier.

This film tells us that a NEW field of Positive Psychology is popping up in our Universities (the most popular class in psychology at Harvard is Positive Psychology, where students learn to get happy just like they would learn a new language – that 40% counts for a lot!) Now of course, being able to afford health care if you get sick and buying/eating food everyday and having a decent roof over our heads can make us happy – VERY happy! This is not to say that poverty makes us happy or that being rich makes us miserable. It just highlights that there are things we can “do” whether we’re poor or rich or anywhere in-between to help us achieve happiness. This film also explains to us that a person with millions is no happier than a person making 50 grand a year. You just have to watch this movie!! Here’s a clip with director Roko Belic…
