An Earthquake in China claims 10,000 homes!!!
More than 10,000 homes have been destroyed from an earthquake that struck southwest China.
The quake hit Yunnan province in southwest China this Thursday evening, leaving more than 300 people injured (as reported by the Xinhua news.) The quake had a 6.0-magnitude, while the U.S. Geological Survey gave it a figure of 5.7. The quake happened at 7:19 p.m. at a depth of about 10 kilometers (6.2 miles), Xinhua reported.
*Thirty people suffered severe injuries, and another 305 were slightly injured as of 1 a.m., relief officials in Yao’an County said. (Miraculously, no deaths were reported at this time.)
This earthquake comes on the heels of last year’s massive quake that struck Sichuan – another province in China. The 8.0-magnitude quake on May 12, 2008 killed more than 68,000 people, left nearly 18,000 more missing and displaced 15 million others.
Damn – all this and Wal-Mart’s Factories too??? (ok, ok, I’ll stop now.)
